Jones Bros sponsors young talent at the International Eisteddfod

Jones Bros is to sponsor Youth Day at this year’s Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.

It is the third year running that the family owned civil engineering company has supported the event.

Junior choirs and dance groups from America, Estonia, Slovakia, the Philippines as well as Wales will compete on the outdoor stages throughout Youth Day on Thursday 9 July.

The managing director of Jones Bros, Huw Jones, said: “Jones Bros is delighted to be supporting the International Eisteddfod once again.

“It is a thoroughly entertaining and worthwhile event bringing people together from across the world through music and dance.

“Our sponsorship of Youth Day reflects our belief in the importance of nurturing young talent to give youngsters skills that will help them succeed and prosper in their adult lives.”

Jones Bros employs 240 people working on a variety of contracts across the UK including windfarms, highway and infrastructure development and waste management.

It runs a substantial apprentice programme, recruiting young people from the local area for training in skills such as plant operations, mechanics and civil engineering.

As part of the Youth Day sponsorship arrangement Jones Bros will receive free tickets to the event, which are to be donated to a local school.

Pupils from Ysgol Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd will visit the Eisteddfod on Thursday 9 July and experience the culture, language and traditions of those taking part.

The International Eisteddfod is a world-renowned festival of music, song and dance.

Competitors from more than fifty countries take part in the event with world-class artists performing each night in the Pavilion.

Founded in the 1950s, Jones Bros has grown steadily in the last decade with a turnover that has increased to £38m in 2008-09.
