Expanding civil engineering firm Jones Bros has saved the jobs of over 20 people after taking over the gas, pumps and lining division of troubled B&M Solutions.

It bought the division after Bangor-based B&M Solutions, went into administration. As well as removing the threat of redundancies from the workers, the move increases the range of services Jones Bros can offer in-house.

It will be a key advantage when tendering for future contracts, giving the company greater control of overall costs and, therefore, a competitive edge.

“Most importantly, the acquisition made business sense for us as well as saving the jobs of workers we know and respect,” said Ruth Jones, Assistant Commercial Manager of Jones Bros and grandaughter of founder, Glyn Jones.

Ruth said: “Many of B&M Solutions’ existing clients have already said that they are pleased we have made this acquisition.

“We have agreed to take on works in progress so that they can be completed to clients’ satisfaction. The  employees who have now joined Jones Bros are continuing to work on jobs we are currently finishing on behalf of B&M Solutions.

“We have worked hard to make the changes as seamless as possible and are doing everything possible to ensure the new staff integrate well into the Jones Bros team.”

While Ruthin-based Jones Bros has not acquired the B&M Solutions name or premises, it has acquired a key part of the business and an additional skills base which will enable it to offer an even more comprehensive service to existing and new clients.

B&M Solutions operated in the landfill construction and maintenance sector. In particular, they supply and install gas and contaminated liquid management systems. These systems are associated with new and existing waste disposal and waste-to-energy conversion schemes.
