Jones Bros created a new civic amenity site for Flintshire County Council. The existing site, containing a composting facility, continued to be used during construction work.
All excavated material was disposed to an adjacent site as landscaping bunds. The new civil amenity site was built up and contained between reinforced concrete retaining walls approx 3.0m high.
The front retaining wall was built in a zig-zag shape of approx. 6.0m x 3.50m bays (ten in total) to allow discharge of waste into skips from one end, and also to aid even distribution into the skip. The lower skip area was formed in concrete hard standings, with drainage channels included for surface water run-off.
Other work included widening the existing entrance into the weighbridge area to accommodate commercial and domestic traffic.
